Survivors

So today was a busy day I woke up and went and worked on my Physics assignment with Bryea luckily our groups had worked on different problems so we could work through them and have some reference from the groups.  We worked on it for a while until finally we headed to Physics class.  Luckily lately we have been doing forces now and I think I am starting to really understand those.  Which is good because velocities I have been really struggling with.

In Calculus we started doing series so far I really have been getting them well there with some with recursion involved and I still had little trouble with them and it reminds of my programming class while I am writing algorithms.  It also helps that I meet with a tutor twice a week I think if it wasn't for that I would be failing that class in a most epic fashion.  The rest of the day I spent mainly in the Linux Lab thankfully I was able to finish my program just barely in time for the day.  Now I just have to finish the one that's due tomorrow then my weekend can really begin.

I have also started watching a new TV series called Survivors its a British show about a horrible virus that goes and wipes out 99% of the world gets wiped out in a matter of weeks.  The show takes place in Britain following a group of survivors from various pats and so far I have been really enjoying it.

Stadium Singing

Well today is the first Sunday for the first Sunday of this month that we are going to church due to General Conference.  I woke up to my roommate Kris making us the breakfast that he wanted all of the apartment to try out and that he invited the FHE sisters over to try them also.  The breakfast was waffles and chocolate gravy and I was really impressed because I wasn't so sure about it honestly.  But man it was really good and really filling man I was stuffed afterwards.  I really enjoyed it I like how we are close to our FHE sisters and always strive to make a great relationship with them.

Elder Clark and Me.  It amazes me how much I miss Ohio.
Sadly though this had to come to an end and I had to go to a Ward Council with Bryce and David.  Ward Council really makes me feel like a missionary because I learn way to much about everybody.  Although I am feeling pretty good about the Home Teaching assignments I made it seems that the companionship are really getting along great.  My companion I have, his name is Model, seems like a really cool hes a recent convert, but I can tell I am going to have to keep up on him to get him to go out every month.  He is a very busy guy and is not the most into church things and doesn't want to go on a mission sadly.  I hope I can be a good example to him and maybe get him to reconsider.  Overall I really enjoyed church today even though I was always in and out of classes and I really feel like a missionary again with all this responsibility.  Its ok though I like to be busy instead of feeling like I have nothing to do.

Tonight I went to stadium singing with Kayle and her roommates which are all really funny I am definitely getting on a first name basis over there.  Its so funny they are all so fun to hang out with even during stadium singing we were making faces at each other and Emily kept punching me and Lexie kept saying she was going to turn the car around haha.  Then later on Emily tried to fight me and I just ended up tackling her and sitting on her which was really funny luckily she didn't get a good hit off because she was going straight for the jewels.  Over all it was a fun night with them and they had another guy come over which I am now having his name leave me though it was crazy because he knows my friend Bobby.

Straw Maze and the Future

If it wasn't for my programming class and archery class I would really not like my classes or feel like I am going anywhere.  Family Foundations I just read talks which is good but feels like my mission and zone conference again so it doesn't feel really like class.  And I feel like I am always somewhat lost in Physics and Calc so those can be frustrating.  After my last class I expected to be in the Linux Lab until about closing time finishing up my airport simulation program, but after talking to a couple of the others guys I figured out how to change my algorithm and got to past test bed.  I wasn't even in their for an hour including the time to comment everything.  Can I just tell you how amazing it is when you run the test bed and this screen pops up.  Well if you don't its pretty much saying you have atleast a 90-95% on the assignment hands down if you followed the directions.  I am excited and nervous because we will really be diving into the STL (standered template library) in the upcoming assignments which will be good for me because then I will get better and using per-defined functions instead of the ones I create.

I go home and checked my e-mail and did a couple of things then I was told that our FHE sisters wanted to go to the Straw maze and that we were invited and that they were going to bring "some" friends.  Well let me tell you we went over and got a ride to La Jolla and we all crammed into this apartment and there was almost a total of 40 of us there.  There was a lot of people there and it was crazy, we almost didn't go because not having enough cars, but in the end it was enough and we went.  The broke us up into groups of six and in my group was another guy I didn't know and me, Cacia, Andrea, Alisa and Courtney  Cacias cousin who goes to BYU.  Although it was really wet and muddy it was a lot of fun and there was lots of haunts because it was the weekend.  They definitely scared the girls a lot especially this crazy clown that was on stilts he was awesome.

After we finally finished the straw maze which probably took about an hour and this included many scares, a lost phone a quick prayer for said phone and going through a really small dark tunnel we made it out of the maze.  Over all it was a lot of fun and there was a crazy clown with balloons that was messing with Tori and Courtney and would give them a balloon and then would take it away or would pop it which was funny.

After that we went to my roommate Kris' soccer game which was really cool because it went into over time then to a shoot out but it eneded up having to be a tie because the stadium lights went out due to it being midnight and they are automatically timed and they couldn't turn them back on.  I'm pretty sure I have never heard of a game that went to shoot out and still was a tie in the end.  Overall it was a fun game to go to and I saw Jessica and Ashley there also which was fun.  The thing that was not fun was running home afterwards which is not fun in my Vans especially since I am out of shape.  Man I just need to suck it up and start running consistently maybe try to get a running buddy that would help.  Afterwards we went and hung out at the girls apartment until curfew and just sat and talked and got to see Corina's PJ's which are a the one-sees you see little kids where it took a lot of coaxing before she would finally put it on.   Then we drank some hot chocolate and pumpkin cookies and headed back to the apartment.

My roommate Andrew showed me this cool music video and thought I should save/share it.  Its a group called The Chemical Brothers and the song is Star Guitar.  Pay attention to the music in relation to the objects going by.

I also have been thinking alot about my future and where I will end up. Currently I am looking at interning in about a year at Batelle in my home town and I may work there after I get done with college though I would prefer other places.  But I was thinking that what country I would like to live in if I decided to go somewhere foriegn and I decided I would love to live in Taiwan.  It is a beatiful country and it has a lot of my type of industry and work in that country and it is one of the most stable of the countries of the world.  That and it would be cool to be able to visit Japan, Korea, China, Australia and New Zealand fairly easily from there which would make things pretty exciting.  But we shall see only time will tell.

RIP Steve Jobs

Well today seemed like a blur today all my classes were over it seemed like I realized it.  The only one I really noticed was archery because my rotator cuff is still bothering me.  I am trying to take it easy because I don't want to have to drop archery because it is my twelfth credit and its my favorite class.  Though something was wrong with my sight and I had to keep adjusting it so I could finally hit  the bulls eye at the end of class.

I also finished my audio book Death Troopers and all in all i was pretty happy about it.  I mean what can go wrong with Star Wars, Han Solo, and Zombies.  Although it did seem a little short but I really enjoyed it none the less I would give it a 4/5.  And I definitely recommend the audio book the reading is great and really adds to the suspense and horror of the book.

I have now started a new audio book still of the Star Wars variety its the 2nd in the Star Wars the Old Republic series and the book is called Deceived.  Its a follow up on the book Fatal Alliance which I really enjoyed before school started.  So far I really am enjoying the book it has actually talks about the cool cinematic from the upcoming game.

In more world news a great titan of the computer world passed away sadly Steve Jobs the former CEO of Apple passed away earlier today.  Its really hard to believe that someone like him who not even that long ago was looking in good health and still doing so many things.  Many people may say the don't like Macs for this reason or that and I although have never purchased an actual Macbook Pro I am contemplating on getting one for my next laptop that or an Alienware.  But one that I can say that the IPod was one of the greatest inventions of the music industry and revolutionized the MP3 player market.  In the end he left a lasting impact on the that only can be compared to few others.

On a lighter note here is Wil Wheaton having a conversation with his cat that he posted on twitter and I just had to copy it because I thought it was hilarious.

Cat: WANT GO OUTSIDE.
Me: Ok, but it's raining. [2 seconds later]
Cat: OMG IT'S RAINING LET ME BACK IN!
Me: I told you.
Cat: DO NOT WANT!

Later that day.
Cat: WANT GO OUTSIDE.
Me: Dude, it's still raining.
Cat: OUTSIDE OUTSIDE OUTSIDE.
Me: Sigh. Ok.
Cat: OMG RAIN! LET ME BACK IN!

17 Miracles and new audio book.

Tonight for FHE we watched 17 miracles its a movie that talks about the Willie Handcart company and all the miracles that happened to them during their travels.  And man let me tell you this movie really tears you up emotionally its a very sad movie.  Which doesn't surprise me since a lot of people did die on the journey to the Salt Valley from this handcart company due to the late start in the season.  But still very sad there were some of the girls that were crying watching it.  It really does have a great message about being that dedicated to Christ and that you should really be willing to do whatever is asked of you and to have Faith.  Overall I would give it a 3.5 out 5 but I would definitely recommend it to anyone.  Latter Day Saint or Not.

After this I got a cake from my FHE sisters which was pretty cool it was just a nice little normal pan cake and then my roommates busted out the real deal which was ice cream cake.  Lets just say I was a little stoked.  Ever since growing up I asked for ice cream cake every year compared to traditional cake just because I was never a huge fan of normal cake.  But then you make it made of ice cream and then we are talking.

I am also starting a new audio book tomorrow its Star Wars book called Death Troopers.  Yes I realize that I am a huge geek and if you are reading this and do not already know it well you do now.  Anyways the sound of the books is a mix between the general Sci-Fi fantasy feel of Star Wars with a good helping of horror with a side of potential zombies.  All in all sounds like my kind of book, I just hope that I can sleep at night after listening to this thing.  Well that's all for tonight I need to get some sleep.

For the first time.

Well I have many friends that have gotten into the blogging scene lately and decided that I would try it out.  With this I have started two blogs one that is a private one which will be more of a journal.  The other being one for my family, friends and public because I won't really care who reads it.

So if there are some transitions that don't make sense that is because there was something probably taken out that I deemed too personnel.  Well my day started off with me waking up to my roommate Chad waking me up saying that General Conference starts in five minutes.  So I dragged myself out of bed and put in my contacts and grabbed my computer to take notes.  I really enjoy conference every year even though I seemed more sleep deprived then usual this year.  It also means if its the October conference than my birthday is very close or in the case of this year its tomorrow.

Here is my notes from the two days.  No notes from Priesthood I was way too tired and struggled to just pay attention but it was a great conference that focused on missionary work.

Some of my favorite quotes from the conference from my notes.
L. Whitney Clayton "The sun never sets upon the Church in these latter days."

Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "We must always remember of the grandness of God and the glory of all that he has created.  But at the same time it should give us comfort for the reason all this was created was because of us and that it his will for us to succeed."
I watched the 1st session with my roommates Chad and Bryce in my apartment.  In between the sessions we invited our Family Home Evening group sisters over to have tacos, which were amazing and one of the girls brought over a spinach dip which I ate until nearly bursting.  It was fun talking and getting to know them better, we also decided that the BYU channel was a lot like the food network just with less food and more mediocre movies.  I decided then to go Kayle's to watch the 2nd session at her apartment.

I also started playing Portal today and can I tell you that this game so far is really addicting.  I really feel behind though seeing as there is already a second one.  So far though from what I hear being a low budget game I am really impressed with its game play.  though I didn't get to play to long until my lap top overheated from being on pretty much all day.

Well Its now my birthday well I don't feel any different.  I definitely don't feel like I am 23, but I really haven't felt my age for a while.  Still haven't decided if that's a good thing or bad thing yet.  I have always enjoyed the quote that says "aging is inevitable, maturing is optional.

I also rewatched a cool video tonight called Beyond Black Mesa its a really cool fan film about the Half Life games and it is a really good quality I was very impressed by it.  Anyone out there that has not already played these games I highly recommend them and it will help make the video make more sense.
